It's not JUST a machine! We have souls you know!" because I would have to disagree. In fact, I lost a couple of followers last time I hinted at my views on this.
I think there is nothing wrong with saying "enough now. Leave me in peace" as long as that is a choice and not inertia or disillusionment. I am all for doing nothing if that is what has been chosen for that time.
I try to have my hindsight in advance where possible. It is actually easier than it sounds.
It has been a a very full year. Ad now, it is another one which I hope will be full in other ways.Perlnumquisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13719930860859412405noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093110082255125617.post-6871088703387548412013-03-05T10:18:31.043-08:002013-03-05T10:18:31.043-08:00One year already! It seems strange, doesn't it, how one minute it feels like "what! is it really possible that the Earth has completed yet another orbit around the Sun since this happened?", and then, only seconds later, stopping to think about the stuff that happened during that time, the people you met, the places you went to, the things you learnt, the emotions you felt, makes it all feel like a very FULL year really, enough in there to fill a decade.
Congratulations for all being more than well now!Librarianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704656564078750607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6093110082255125617.post-36056997494368147342013-03-05T04:15:54.337-08:002013-03-05T04:15:54.337-08:00So there’s hope for those of us who often feel bra...So there’s hope for those of us who often feel brain dead? Particularly when faced with a new puzzle to sort out, a new technique to learn or just keep up with the pace of life?

Seriously, both the brain and the body are no more (nor less) than a machine. If all the parts function, the whole functions. If a part is damaged, the whole will find a way to adjust. Hopefully.

You are right to exhort us to grab every opportunity to exercise the brain, but there comes a time when body and brain grow tired of the struggle and want nothing more than to sit in a chair and rest. I have seen old people, who once were active in every respect, say ‘enough now, I’m tired, let me be’. Those people have a right to feeling as they do and if they actually enjoy their life, why not.

Like you I believe that ‘this’ is all there is. I wish I could have another go - who wouldn’t. Hindsight makes giants of us all.

Frikohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04277167831642088694noreply@blogger.com
